IMF resident representative meets Sri Lanka’s deputy minister of finance

A meeting was held today (June 3) at the Ministry of Finance between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative for Sri Lanka, Martha Tesfaye Woldemichael, and Sri Lanka’s Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Anil Jayantha Fernando.

According to reports, the discussions focused on the current progress of Sri Lanka’s economic reform agenda, ongoing efforts to strengthen public financial management, and the implementation of collaborative programs being carried out in partnership with the International Monetary Fund.

The two sides also exchanged views on maintaining economic stability, ensuring the continuity of reform measures, and promoting sustainable economic growth that delivers tangible benefits to the people of Sri Lanka.

The meeting is regarded as an important step in further strengthening the relationship between Sri Lanka and the IMF, while supporting the successful implementation of the country’s economic reform program.
