A high-level delegation from the International Cricket Council, including a senior official linked to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, is expected to visit Sri Lanka following the government’s decision to appoint an interim body to oversee cricket administration in the country, according to reports by Press Trust of India (PTI).

PTI reported that ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on Friday night. Another ICC official, who also holds a senior role within the BCCI, is expected to arrive on Saturday.

Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, speaking during a television programme, confirmed that ICC representatives are expected to visit the country soon for discussions regarding the current situation in local cricket administration.

The development follows the government’s appointment of a nine-member interim committee to oversee Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

On April 29, Minister Gamage appointed the interim panel after SLC President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee resigned from their positions.

The interim committee has been tasked with managing cricket administration, implementing reforms, and overseeing operations until fresh elections are held.
