Minister Murashko, who arrived in Sri Lanka on yesterday ( 03) for a three-day official visit, met with Minister Jayatissa and senior officials of the Health and Mass Media Ministry. Hansaka Wijemuni and Levan Dzhagaryan were also present at the meeting.

According to a ministry statement, both sides exchanged views on strengthening primary healthcare and improving service delivery through modern technologies. Key areas of focus included AI-driven systems, advanced medical equipment, medical education, pharmaceutical production, and supply chain management.

Minister Murashko highlighted the long-standing relations between Russia and Sri Lanka, expressing Russia’s willingness to support further development of Sri Lanka’s healthcare system and deepen bilateral cooperation.

He noted that Russia has prioritised primary healthcare and implemented structured measures to ensure efficient service delivery. He also pointed out that Russia has developed modern medical equipment incorporating advanced technologies such as AI.

The Russian delegation briefed Sri Lankan officials on an AI-based diagnostic system capable of identifying 42 diseases across both rural and urban populations, including applications in laboratory services and paediatrics.

Minister Murashko also extended an invitation to Minister Jayatissa and Sri Lankan health officials to visit Russia to study its healthcare model, modern medical technologies, and AI-assisted treatment systems, offering to facilitate the visit.

He further stated that Russia is ready to extend support to Sri Lanka in addressing broader challenges, including in the energy sector, and expressed interest in strengthening collaboration in pharmaceutical production and supply chains.

Additionally, Russia has offered to expand medical education opportunities for Sri Lankan doctors.
