The request has been formally submitted in writing to COPA Chairman, Member of Parliament Kabir Hashim.
According to the organisation, a prior written complaint had also been sent to the Speaker of the House regarding the incident, but no response has been received so far. It further noted that even the letter addressed to the Speaker had not been acknowledged.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (03), Ranjith Keerthi Tennakoon, representing the organisation, said there has been a lack of official engagement on the matter.
He also claimed that no significant progress had been made through the Committee on Public Finance, chaired by Parliamentarian Harsha de Silva.
Tennakoon further alleged that the Ministry of Finance had granted a one-month period to the Secretary to submit relevant documents, describing the move as a delay tactic.
He stressed that key parliamentary oversight responsibilities have not been fulfilled in this case and urged that a transparent investigation be conducted through COPA, led by the Auditor General, with proceedings made accessible to both the public and the media.
