At approximately 9:25 PM ( CST) on April 29, 2026, the majority of the monks arrived at DFW International Airport and later returned to the Hương Đạo Vipassanā Bhavānā Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra, Aloka, and the sacred Bodhi tree sapling also arrived safely on a separate flight in Houston, Texas, on the night of April 29, 2026. The sapling has now been placed in quarantine to complete all required entry procedures.
Prior to departing Sri Lanka, the Bodhi sapling underwent a comprehensive preparation process carried out by the National Plant Quarantine Service (NPQS) and the Department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka. These measures were taken in full accordance with United States phytosanitary and plant health regulations, allowing this sacred symbol of peace, loving-kindness, and wisdom to be introduced safely while meeting all international requirements.
Organizers are currently working to make the sapling available for public veneration and exhibition during the Vesak celebrations, which will take place from May 2 to May 10, 2026, at the Hương Đạo Vipassanā Bhavānā Center in Fort Worth.
After the Vesak celebration concludes, the Bodhi sapling will begin an official three-year quarantine period at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, to ensure its long-term health and continued compliance with regulations.
Most Venerable Ratanaguna is expected to arrive on the morning of May 2, 2026, together with the Sri Lankan Sangha in a sacred procession accompanying the Sacred Relics of the Buddha.
The Hương Đạo Vipassanā Bhavānā Center is now preparing to welcome devotees, families, and visitors for the Vesak 2026 celebration.
A key highlight of the event will be the public veneration and exhibition of the Sacred Relics of the Buddha, offering a rare and spiritually significant opportunity for the wider community.
