The National People’s Power (NPP) has planned rallies covering 21 districts under the theme “People’s power for a people’s government.” Key events will be held at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Grounds with the participation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and another rally is scheduled in Maharagama tomorrow afternoon.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will not hold a rally this year, instead dedicating the day to religious observances. Activities will begin with a floral tribute at the T.B. Illangaratne statue led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, followed by religious events across the country and an overnight pirith chanting ceremony at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya.
The Frontline Socialist Party will hold its May Day event at Hyde Park, Maradana, while the Communist Party has planned its rally at its headquarters in Borella.
Due to the May Day events in Colombo, a special traffic plan will be in effect. Police have announced several diversions and alternative routes for vehicles entering and leaving the city, particularly around Maharagama, Borella, Nugegoda, and other key junctions, to manage congestion.
