The Bribery Commission stated that the affidavit submitted by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in relation to the assets probe was incomplete.
Accordingly, he has been informed to submit a properly completed affidavit without delay.
The Commission warned that failure to provide a complete affidavit would be treated as non-disclosure of information and further legal action could follow.
It was also revealed that Mahinda Rajapaksa had not submitted an affidavit concerning an assets investigation launched in 2015.
As a result, the Commission issued a notice on March 23 directing him to submit the required affidavit within 2 weeks.
The order was made under Section 49 (1) (e) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.
Meanwhile, the Bribery Commission has also sought an explanation on how a house located on Torrington Avenue, Colombo, owned by Shiranthi Rajapaksa, was acquired.
The request is linked to an investigation connected to the Siriliya account.
Authorities suspect that the property may have been obtained through unlawful means.
The Commission further stated that the transfer of ownership of the house to any other party has been suspended until a satisfactory explanation is provided.
It warned that if the manner in which the property was acquired is not properly explained, steps will be taken after investigation to seek a court order to restrain the property.
