Speaking to the media on Yesterday (29), COPF Chairman Harsha de Silva said he had received a letter from the Treasury Secretary stating that he would be unable to attend the committee meeting scheduled for Thursday.
According to de Silva, the Treasury Secretary had informed the committee that the President is expected to make a statement in Parliament on the matter and requested another date after that.
Deputy Minister Ariyarathne said Suriyapperuma had not declined to appear before the committee, but had only requested a date after May 5, as the government is due to make a special statement in Parliament on the issue.
She further stated that the Treasury Secretary would appear before the COPF on a new date to be decided by the committee.
