The declaration will be made through a Sannas Patra (official proclamation), which is to be presented to Venerable Pannakara Thero and other dignitaries participating in the event.
The forests identified for reservation are Nagahamulayaya in the Matale District and Padavigampola in the Kegalle District.
According to Dhammika Patabendi, Minister of Environment, the official declaration will be handed over when the procession reaches the Beligammana Rajamaha Viharaya this afternoon ( 24).
Today marks the third day of the ‘Walk for Peace in the Island of Peace’, which commenced from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and is scheduled to conclude at Beligammana Rajamaha Viharaya.
Venerable Pannakara Thero, along with members of the Maha Sangha, is expected to walk approximately 25 kilometres today as part of the initiative aimed at drawing global attention to peace.
