Train services along Sri Lanka’s coastal line were severely disrupted this morning (April 24) after the ‘Sagarika’ express train derailed near Wadduwa Railway Station, railway officials said.

The train, which was operating from Beliatta to Maradana, went off the tracks causing both railway lines in the area to be blocked. As a result, train services on the coastal line have been completely suspended in both directions.

Authorities are currently working to clear the tracks and restore normal operations.
