The flotilla, which was launched last year, brings together thousands of activists from nearly 100 countries, with the objective of transporting essential food, medicine, and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip.
Mehboobdeen’s participation was highlighted during a media briefing held on Monday (20) at the Embassy of Palestine in Sri Lanka, organised by the Free Palestine Organization. The event included a candle-lighting ceremony to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause and support for her journey.
The Global Sumud Flotilla is regarded as a symbol of international solidarity, with participants undertaking significant risks to deliver aid and challenge ongoing restrictions.
Speaking at the event, Government MP Najith Indika extended his support, expressing hopes for the success of the mission and the safe return of Mehboobdeen.
