The app is being implemented under a climate resilience project funded with the support of the World Bank.
Developed to be accessible via computers and mobile phones, the platform integrates data from over 50 institutions connected to the Disaster Management Centre. These include the Department of Meteorology, the National Building Research Organisation, the Department of Irrigation, and the Mahaweli Authority, among others.
The system uses artificial intelligence to analyze information gathered from these agencies within a single platform, enabling more efficient and accurate decision-making.
Officials say the application will not only help reduce the impact of disasters but also improve communication of vital information to communities at the grassroots level.
It is designed to cover multiple aspects of disaster management, including early warning, emergency response, incident management, and inter-agency coordination.
The launch event was attended by Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, retired Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, along with several other officials.
