The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has urged the public to use water sparingly due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.

Officials warn that if the lack of rainfall continues in the coming days, disruptions to the water supply may occur. Therefore, conserving water is essential to manage the existing resources effectively.

Chairman of the Board, Engineer Chandana Bandara, stated that although production capacity at water treatment plants, including Ambatale, has not yet been affected, the supply of water to high-elevation areas has already dropped to low-pressure levels.

He further expressed hope for rainfall in the near future and emphasized the importance of responsible water usage during this period.

Additionally, water is currently being distributed to low-pressure areas using bowser trucks to ensure continued access for affected communities.
