The Central Province Entrepreneurship Awards 2025, organized jointly by the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) and the Matale District Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MDCCIA), was held ceremoniously on March 28 at the Golden Crown Hotel in Kandy.

The event celebrated and recognized entrepreneurial excellence within Sri Lanka’s Central Province, bringing together business leaders, innovators, and policymakers.

Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Sunil Handunnetti, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that the resilience shown by Sri Lankan entrepreneurs—despite challenges such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent economic crisis—remains a cornerstone of the national economy.

The Minister also outlined steps taken by the government to remove practical obstacles faced by entrepreneurs and to further strengthen the country’s enterprise sector.

The awards ceremony highlighted outstanding achievements across various industries, reinforcing the importance of innovation and perseverance in driving regional and national economic growth.
