Latest data released by the authority shows that 708,348 tourists visited the country between January 1 and March 25, 2026.
India continues to dominate as the leading source market, contributing 139,164 visitors during this period. The United Kingdom follows with 74,295 arrivals, while Russia accounts for 63,505 tourists.
In March alone, Sri Lanka welcomed 151,693 visitors within the first 25 days. Of these, 39,424 tourists (26%) were from India. Other key contributors for March include:

Germany: 10,523
Despite the strong performance, a year-on-year comparison shows that March 2025 recorded a higher total of 229,298 arrivals for the full month.
The steady influx in early 2026 highlights continued recovery and growing interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination, particularly among regional and European markets.
