According to health officials, the revised list was compiled by the Ministry of Health following discussions with all Provincial Directors of Health Services and Regional Directors of Health Services, and with their agreement. Officials also noted that in the past, various trade unions had been involved in the preparation of such lists.
In 2020, the number of hospitals classified as “difficult” stood at a higher figure of 407.
The GMOA has stated that its exclusion from the process of preparing the latest list is the primary reason for considering strike action.
The association’s central committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow (March 30) to discuss the matter further. Reports indicate that a continuous island-wide strike across all hospitals may commence from the morning of March 31.
