The suspects, aged 23 and 57, were arrested by Indian authorities on March 24, 2026, for illegal entry after fleeing Sri Lanka by sea in the aftermath of a police raid.
They were deported on March 28 and taken into custody at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The arrests are connected to a raid carried out on January 29 in the Gampaha area, during which police seized 4 kilograms and 423 grams of cocaine and 3,450 Mandrax tablets. Further investigations revealed that the two suspects had allegedly assisted the main suspect in the trafficking network.
Both individuals, who are residents of Colombo 15, have been handed over to the Western Province North Crimes Division for further investigations.
