The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers at several locations in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the districts of Colombo, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara after 2:00 p.m. today.

Meanwhile, predominantly dry and warm conditions are expected to prevail across the rest of the island.

Early morning misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts, potentially affecting visibility in these areas.

Authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.

Marine Forecast

For sea areas surrounding the island, showers or thundershowers may occur in the waters off the coast from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the evening or night. Other sea areas are expected to remain mostly fair.

Winds will be variable in direction, with speeds ranging between 20–30 km/h. The general sea condition is expected to be slight, although temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershower activity.

Fishermen and naval operators are advised to remain vigilant during these conditions.
