The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has recently submitted a proposal to the PUCSL requesting a 13.56 percent increase in electricity tariffs for the period from April 1 to June 30, 2026.
According to officials, the proposed revision is part of the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism aimed at reflecting changes in generation costs, fuel prices, and other operational expenses in the power sector.
As part of the review process, the PUCSL has initiated a series of public consultation sessions to gather views from consumers, industry stakeholders, and other interested parties regarding the proposed tariff increase.
The Commission stated that the feedback received during these consultations will be considered before a final decision is made on whether to approve, modify, or reject the CEB’s proposal.
The PUCSL is expected to announce its determination before the end of March, ahead of the proposed implementation date of April 1.
