The Grade 5 Scholarship Examination is scheduled to be held today (August 9) at 2,723 examination centres across Sri Lanka.
A total of 294,089 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s examination, including 220,366 students in the Sinhala medium and 73,723 students in the Tamil medium, according to the Department of Examinations.
Tuition classes related to the examination ended at midnight on August 5. Promotional activities concerning the scholarship examination through print or electronic media are strictly prohibited until the examination concludes.
Parents will not be permitted to enter examination centres while the examination is in progress. The Department of Examinations has advised parents to bring children to their respective examination centres one hour before the examination begins, allowing them to settle down and maintain their concentration.
The second question paper will be conducted first, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Following a short break, the first question paper will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage has advised candidates to carefully read all instructions on the question paper, correctly write their examination number and provide their answers clearly in the designated spaces.
Candidates are strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, notes, or any other electronic devices into the examination hall.
Authorities have urged students to remain calm, follow the examination instructions carefully and sit for the examination with confidence.
