The Minister made these remarks while addressing an event held in Veyangoda.
During the event, the new Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre building of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board at Urapola was officially opened under the patronage of Minister Ananda Wijepala.
The facility has been constructed under the national programme aimed at creating a country free from drug abuse, as part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative. The project was funded with an allocation of Rs. 11.6 million.
Technical assistance and labour support for the construction were provided by the Sri Lanka Navy.
Religious leaders representing several faiths also attended the occasion. Deputy Ministers Mahinda Jayasinghe and Munir Mulaffer, as well as Member of Parliament Ruwan Mapalagama, were among those present at the event.
