US President Donald Trump has threatened to hit Iran “twenty times harder” if it stops oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz after saying the war could end “very soon”.

President Trump on Monday threatened the Iranian regime against halting the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, as gas prices back home rise amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran. AlJazeera and The Hill news reported.

“If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far,” the president wrote on his Truth Social platform

“Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again — Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!”

Trump added that his demand is a “gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use” the passageway.

The Strait of Hormuz, which is located between Oman and Iran and connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, is one of the world’s most important chokepoints. In 2024, the equivalent of roughly 20 percent of global petroleum consumption flowed through the passageway, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration
