The suspect, described by authorities as a high-profile alleged drug trafficker, is wanted in connection with multiple homicide investigations. He had previously been apprehended in India prior to his return to Sri Lanka.
According to Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, the suspect will be handed over to the Galle District Crimes Division for further investigations.
Security was heightened at the airport during the escort operation. Police have stated that further details regarding the investigations will be released in due course.
