Minister Nalinda Jayatissa paid a courtesy call on Bangalidsh Prime minister during his official visit to to attend the Prime Minister’s oath-taking ceremony, representing .

The ceremony marked the formal assumption of office by Prime Minister Rahman following the recent parliamentary election in . Minister Jayatissa attended the event on behalf ofthe Government of Sri Lanka and conveyed congratulations to Prime Minister Rahman on his election victory and assumption of duties.

During the meeting, Minister Jayatissa expressed Sri Lanka’s sincere appreciation for the support extended by Bangladesh during the challenging period when Ditwa affected the country. He thanked the Bangladeshi leadership for the solidarity shown toward Sri Lanka at that time.

Discussions between the two leaders focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the tourism industry and the healthcare sector. They exchanged views on practical steps to enhance collaboration, promote institutional partnerships, and deepen ties between the two nations.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, Mr. Dharmapala Weerakkodi, also participated in the meeting.
