The case, which was previously taken up on January 28 before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, concerns allegations that more than Rs. 16.6 million in government funds were misappropriated. The charges have been filed against the former President in connection with the alleged misuse of public funds.
Mr. Ekanayake, who has been named as the second suspect in the case, surrendered to court through his legal representatives. Following his appearance, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody until today (18).
