According to the Central Bank, Dr. Weerasinghe expressed his gratitude for the continued support extended by the IMF under the current Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme and for its active role in facilitating the successful completion of Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring process.
Ms. Georgieva noted that Sri Lanka’s performance under the IMF-supported programme has been successful so far. She also commended the Central Bank for its significant contribution towards restoring macroeconomic stability in the aftermath of the economic crisis.
The IMF Managing Director further stated that Sri Lanka has strong potential to achieve higher economic growth by implementing necessary structural reforms and maintaining a sustainable and resilient economy.
