The Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union announced that the trade union action, which was set to commence at midnight, has been put on hold.
Union Secretary Dimuthu Edirisinghe stated that the decision to suspend the strike was taken following the government’s move to temporarily halt its decision to provide train driver training to military officers.
According to the union, the planned industrial action was withdrawn in response to the government’s decision, and normal train services are expected to operate as scheduled.
