Data released by the SLTDA shows that India continues to lead as the top source market, contributing 26,096 visitors during the first half of February, accounting for 16 percent of total arrivals. The United Kingdom followed with 17,807 tourists, while 12,607 visitors arrived from Russia. Germany contributed 12,309 tourists and 11,560 Chinese nationals also visited Sri Lanka during the same period.
The latest figures indicate continued momentum in the tourism industry compared to last year. In February 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 240,217 tourists.
Meanwhile, cumulative arrivals for 2026 have reached 436,666 following the release of February’s latest data. Of this total, 78,157 visitors are from India, 47,347 from the United Kingdom and 39,741 from Russia, the SLTDA said.
The steady growth in arrivals reflects sustained international interest in Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination, with key markets maintaining strong travel demand during the peak winter season.
