Parliament to convene from today (17) to Friday (20)

The Parliament of Sri Lanka will convene from Tuesday, February 17, through Friday, February 20, according to Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera.

On each sitting day, time from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. has been allocated for parliamentary business as outlined in Standing Order 22 (1–6). The period from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. will be reserved for oral questions, while 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. will be set aside for questions raised under Standing Order 27(2).

On Tuesday, February 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Second Reading debate on the Parliamentary Pensions (Abolition) Bill is scheduled to take place.

At 5:00 p.m., a motion will be presented seeking approval to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to review election-related laws and report back to Parliament with its proposals and recommendations.

Following this, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., time has been allocated for questions raised during the adjournment debate.
