Director General of CIABOC, Ranga Dissanayake, stated that the Commission’s activities have seen significant progress, particularly following the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan. He noted that raids carried out by the Commission and the advancement of filed cases have marked a substantial improvement in its operations.
Dissanayake said that taking action on these cases under the national plan has helped shift public perception regarding corruption in the country.
According to him, nearly 8,000 cases have been filed under CIABOC, with investigations already underway into approximately 40 per cent of them. He added that special attention is being given to large-scale corruption cases as well as long-pending cases that have remained unresolved for years.
As part of the ongoing anti-corruption strategy, Dissanayake further announced that two more additional courts will be established to ensure that legal proceedings are conducted without delay.
