The accident occurred when a private bus operating from Akkaraipattu to Trincomalee veered off the road and overturned, police said.
At the time of the accident, 21 passengers were travelling in the bus. Fourteen of them sustained injuries.
The injured passengers were admitted to the Serunuwara and Muttur hospitals for treatment.
