Foreign tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka surpass 2.25 million in 2025

Sri Lanka has welcomed over 2.25 million foreign tourists so far this year, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) announced. Between January 1 and December 21, a total of 2,258,202 visitors arrived on the island.

Indian tourists led the arrivals, with 510,133 visitors, followed by 204,703 from the United Kingdom, 141,941 Germans, and 129,403 Chinese nationals. A significant number of tourists also came from countries including France, Australia, and the Netherlands.

The SLTDA further reported that 154,609 tourists visited Sri Lanka during the first 21 days of December alone, highlighting continued interest in the island as a holiday destination.
