Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, in his Christmas message to the nation, called on Sri Lankans to rise with renewed strength and unity in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, emphasizing that hope is born even in the darkest of times.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the country, Opposition leader said the devastation caused by the cyclone should not weaken the national spirit, but instead inspire collective resilience and determination to rebuild and move forward.

“This Christmas reminds us that light is born even in the darkest nights,” he said, urging citizens to stand together as one nation. He stressed the importance of placing Sri Lankan identity above all divisions, calling on people to transcend differences of race, religion, class, colour, and political affiliation.

Mr.Premadasa noted that the true spirit of Christmas lies in compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility, adding that national recovery and progress are only possible through unity and mutual respect.

Concluding his message, the Opposition Leader expressed hope that the festive season would strengthen national harmony and guide Sri Lanka towards a future built on resilience, inclusivity, and collective purpose.
