Sampath Manamperi, currently in the custody of the Police Western Province North Crimes Division over allegations of concealing two containers of raw materials allegedly used in the production of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and possession of weapons, was produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court today (24).
Police requested a further detention order for 90 days to continue questioning Manamperi regarding the case. Following the request, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody until March 20, 2026, as investigations continue.
The case is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to clamp down on the illegal production and distribution of narcotics in the country.
