A multi-day fishing vessel seized by the Sri Lanka Navy in the southern sea area while transporting drugs has been brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour.
According to the Navy, the vessel arrived at the harbour at around 6.00 a.m. today. Five individuals who were on board the fishing vessel have been taken into Navy custody.
The Navy further stated that drugs found in 11 sacks on the vessel have been identified as ice (crystal methamphetamine) and heroin. Initial investigations have revealed that the fishing vessel had departed from Gandhari.
The exact quantity and street value of the seized narcotics are yet to be determined, and further investigations are currently underway.
