The first winter-season flight from Poland to Sri Lanka touched down at Katunayake Airport last night (23).

Flight 3.Z.-7648 of Smart Wings Airlines arrived from Warsaw at 10:10 pm, marking the commencement of the airline’s seasonal service. The Boeing 737 aircraft carried 180 passengers and nine crew members on board.

Smart Wings will operate this route weekly, with flights departing every Tuesday from Warsaw to Katunayake Airport until March 15, 2026.

Tourists arriving on these flights are expected to visit popular destinations across the country, including the coastal areas, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Yala National Park.

Polish visitors were warmly received at the airport by officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Jet Wing Travel Company, highlighting the country’s ongoing efforts to welcome international travelers and promote tourism.
