Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on December 23 for a two-day official visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

During the visit, Zhao Leji will be accompanied by a high-level delegation and is expected to review the next phase of Chinese assistance aimed at supporting communities affected by recent disasters in Sri Lanka.

Zhao Leji is China’s third-most senior leader, ranking after President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang. His visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and China, particularly in the areas of disaster relief and development cooperation.
