SriLankan Airlines has officially transitioned its operations to Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport, effective December 17, marking a significant milestone in its Maldives operations.
To commemorate the move, Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) hosted a ceremonial welcome for passengers arriving on flight UL101 at Terminal 1, as well as those departing on UL102 from the new terminal. The event was attended by His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside senior officials from MACL and SriLankan Airlines.
SriLankan Airlines currently operates three daily flights to Malé via its Colombo hub, offering seamless connectivity to a global network of 117 destinations across 59 countries.
The modern facilities at Terminal 1 are expected to significantly enhance passenger comfort and streamline travel processes, while further supporting the growth of tourism to the Maldives. The move also underscores the strengthening aviation and tourism ties between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, reinforcing connectivity between the two countries.
