The Ministry of Health says a seven-member expert committee has been appointed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the drug Ondansetron, which has been temporarily suspended for use in Sri Lanka.

Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni stated that the committee will carry out scientific investigations into suspected complications linked to the drug, following reports of two deaths after its use. The inquiry will also examine whether these fatalities and other adverse effects can be directly attributed to Ondansetron.

The findings of the expert committee are expected to guide future decisions regarding the safety and continued use of Ondansetron in the country.
