He stated that the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Faculty of Management were completely inundated due to the floods that occurred recently. Of these, the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine will reopen on December 29.
However, the reopening date of the Faculty of Management has not yet been decided, as it suffered severe damage from the floods. Professor Madujith explained that one of the buildings of the Management Faculty remained submerged for several days, and repair work is still ongoing.
He added that it is expected the Faculty of Management may be able to recommence academic activities either by the end of January or in early February.
According to the Vice Chancellor, around 1,300 students are enrolled in the Faculty of Agriculture, 800 students in the Faculty of Management, and about 600 students in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
