President and Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to attend Parliament today (19) to participate in the debate on a supplementary estimate of Rs. 500 billion aimed at restoring livelihoods affected by the recent emergency disaster situation and rebuilding damaged infrastructure.
The supplementary estimate has been presented to seek parliamentary approval for additional state expenditure to address the widespread impact of the disaster, which disrupted economic activity and caused significant damage to public infrastructure across several parts of the country. The proposed allocation is expected to cover immediate relief measures, rehabilitation of essential services, and long-term reconstruction efforts.
