Due to the prevailing heavy rainfall, six spill gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir have been opened, releasing water into the Kala Oya at a rate of 7,130 cubic feet per second, according to the Irrigation Engineer in charge of the reservoir.
Meanwhile, spill gates of several reservoirs under the Mahaweli Authority, including the Victoria, Randenigala and Rantembe reservoirs, remain open as water levels continue to rise.
In addition, Spill Gate No. 3 of the Moragahakanda Reservoir was opened last night due to increased water levels caused by heavy rainfall. The engineer in charge stated that approximately 1,500 cubic feet of water per second is being released in a controlled manner into the Amban River.
