According to the Department, rising water levels in the Mahaweli River have created a potentially hazardous situation, prompting authorities to alert residents living along the riverbanks.

Lankapura

Thamankaduwa

Dimbulagala

Specific high-risk locations identified:

Gal Ella area along the Manampitiya–Polonnaruwa road

Access road to Somawathiya Raja Maha Viharaya and surrounding areas
