Powered by more than 220 live 5G sites and serving over 1.5 million subscribers, Dialog’s 5G network positions the company as the first operator to commercially enable 5G in Sri Lanka, reinforcing its leadership in next-generation connectivity.
The launch follows Dialog securing key spectrum allocations at the 5G spectrum auction conducted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), including a 100 MHz block in the 3500 MHz band and a 200 MHz block in the 27 GHz band.
Dialog 5G Ultra delivers ultra-fast speeds, low latency, and enhanced network performance, enabling richer digital experiences for consumers while unlocking advanced capabilities for enterprises and industries. The use of the 3500 MHz band supports wide-area mobile coverage, while the 27 GHz band enables high-capacity, gigabit-speed applications, positioning Dialog to support future-ready consumer and enterprise solutions.
Commenting on the launch, Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC, said the initiative represents a defining step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital future. He noted that beyond faster connectivity, 5G will act as a key enabler of innovation, productivity, and inclusion across the digital economy.
Dialog also announced plans to invest USD 100 million over the next two years to further expand 5G connectivity nationwide, ensuring individuals, businesses, and industries can fully participate in a digitally enabled Sri Lanka. The company expressed appreciation to the TRCSL and the Government of Sri Lanka for conducting a transparent and efficient spectrum auction process.
