The second day of a government program to provide essential equipment for women entrepreneurs to start self-employment was held on 16 December 2025 at the Mullaitivu Divisional Local Government Assistant Commissioner’s Office.
The initiative, which began on 15 December at the Vavuniya District Rural Development Office, is being implemented under the leadership of the government to support women from the Divisional Secretariats of Mullaitivu District in developing their livelihoods and improving their economic independence.
The program was conducted under the patronage of the Chairman of the Vavuniya District Coordinating Committee and Deputy Minister of Cooperative Development, Mr. Upali Samarasinghe, who emphasized the importance of empowering women through self-employment opportunities.
Selected women participants received the necessary equipment to start their own businesses, marking a step forward in the government’s efforts to promote economic upliftment at the grassroots level.
