The NBRO stated that locations in Ududumbara showing preliminary signs of landslides are currently at risk, and urged residents in the area to refrain from unnecessary travel and take precautions to ensure their safety.
According to NBRO Geologist Vasantha Senadeera, the prevailing rainy conditions have prompted the issuance of Level 3 ‘Red’ landslide warnings for eight Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Accordingly, the red warnings are in effect for the Doluwa, Ududumbara, Medadumbara and Minipe Divisional Secretariat areas in the Kandy District, as well as the Walapane, Hanguranketha, Nildandahinna and Mathurata Divisional Secretariat areas in the Nuwara Eliya District.
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions issued by the authorities.
