Two former SLFP politicians pass away

Former Anuradhapura District Parliamentarian Janak Mahendra Adhikari and former Deputy Minister of Prisons and Corrections S. C. Muthukumarana have passed away.

Janak Mahendra Adhikari, who also served as the organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the Kekirawa electorate, passed away due to an illness. He was 60 years old at the time of his death.

Former Sri Lanka Freedom Party Anuradhapura District Parliamentarian and former Deputy Minister of Prisons and Corrections S. C. Muthukumarana also passed away yesterday evening after being ill for some time.

S. C. Muthukumarana was active in politics during the same period as the late Janak Mahendra Adhikari. He served as a member of the Thalawa Pradeshiya Sabha and was the former Leader of the North Central Provincial Council during the tenure of former Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake.

He later entered national-level politics and was elected to Parliament in 2010 representing the Kalawewa electorate. During his parliamentary career, he also served as Deputy Minister of Prisons and Corrections.
