Rs. 500 B supplementary estimate for disaster relief to be tabled in parliament tomorrow

Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, announced that a Rs. 500 billion supplementary estimate allocated to provide relief to people affected by disasters will be presented to Parliament tomorrow (18).

The Minister made this statement while addressing the Cabinet Decisions Media Briefing held yesterday (16) at the Government Information Department.

He stated that the supplementary estimate is expected to be approved to facilitate disaster relief operations in the coming year. According to Dr. Jayatissa, the funds will be utilized for the rapid rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by disasters, as well as for the construction of new housing for affected communities.

The Minister further noted that the supplementary estimate will be taken up for debate in Parliament on the 19th and is expected to be passed on the same day by evening.
