A meeting between the Government Translators’ Service Union and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya was held at the Prime Minister’s Office on December 16 to discuss issues faced by officers of the service.
During the discussions, attention was drawn to salary disparities between grades, unresolved salary issues, and existing vacancies within the service.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that several challenges had arisen due to previous governments failing to implement salary adjustments in a proper and systematic manner. She added that discussions regarding salary disparities are ongoing, and a positive resolution is expected within the coming year.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputantri, Government Translators’ Service Union President Mujibar Rahman, and other officials.
