Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka was bought by Delhi for ₹4 crore at the Indian Premier League auction, continuing a strong showing by Sri Lankan players at the event.

Nissanka, a regular at the top of Sri Lanka’s batting order, drew interest on the back of his consistent performances at the international level. Delhi secured the right-hander as part of its efforts to strengthen its batting line-up ahead of the upcoming IPL season.

Earlier in the auction, Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was signed for ₹2 crore, while fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana emerged as one of the costliest picks, fetching ₹18 crore — a reflection of his rising stature as a strike bowler in T20 cricket.
